Howdy, Bead Friends!

I can't believe that I've been in Ohio for a half a year already! I worked for 3 months at a full time job, with a 1 1/2 hour commute, so I missed most of the summer. I've really been enjoying watching the yard (all 5 acres!) change. Things don't grow and change nearly so fast in Southern California. I have lots of pictures of the flowers and trees at all their stages of development. We (my brother, my nephew, and I ) even grew some of our food. One of our best crops, for some reason, was the turnips! Guess it's one of the few things that deer, rabbits, groundhogs, and birds don't like.... Anybody know what to make out of turnips? :) I've been doing really well with my recovery from depression, too. I don't have near as many bad days as I used to, and the bad days aren't as nearly as depressing! Thank you to all of you for your support, prayers, good thoughts and wishes.

In bead news - I'm going to be taping another Jewelry Making show for the DIY network! I'll be on the Jewelry Bug episode, making crystal bugs, to air next spring. I'll also be on the Hi Tech show in the next month or so, showing how to bead a bracelet - from a photo and computer beading software to pattern, to herringbone cuff. Click the link above for air times. I don't even know when they'll be on!

Following are pics of some of the things I've been beading lately.

Here are some of the Amazing Crystal Beads I've been making for class.
Here's a monogrammed square I was playing with for the DIY show. They decided not to do a monogram show, but I have this neat star, and a bunch of other patterns, mostly adapted form my TinyPouch Patterns, to make something out of. I was thinking, maybe a bracelet, or a little box......
This little spider is one of the bugs I'll be demo-ing on DIY Jewelry Making. I'll also be making the dragonfly.

I've been teaching this Gwenevere's Cuff class a lot lately. It's a really easy and beautiful bracelet. I had to make another one out of the new Violet Opal Swarovski crystals.

One of my students showed me a few that she'd made using different types and combinations of beads, and said she's gotten so it takes her about an hour to make one. Wow!

Have you seen the Teeny Tiny Bats I made for Halloween?

The pattern is posted on my Free Goodies page....

This is one of those UFO's that I finally finished... the wire wrapped bead and chain part has been kicking around for a long time - and I finally found the perfect amethyst briolettes to finish the lariat. They were left over from the bracelet below.... The other beads are facetted amethyst, cape amethyst, and matte round amethyst.
I splurged on myself.... This "Flower Fields" bracelet has about $250.00 worth of beads in it! Amethyst briolettes and facetted beads, oval FW Pearls, Labradorite rondels, Swarovski crystals... Yum!

Another UFO project: These are not the colors I usually work with, but....I took a color class from Rene Roberts a loooong time ago (1995). I also bought one of her beautiful beads. I had picked out the beads, and strung one strand of the necklace, and put it away. Somehow, it got moved to Ohio in my one car load of goodies (most of my beads and other art supplies are still in California). So - the other day, I got it out and finished it!

It is worn with the art bead at the throat, then crossed in back of the neck, and knotted in the front.
