September 3rd, 2003

Goals for this month:

Daily creation - get back in the habit!

Food - Watch the sugar - cut down!

I had a great vacation, but I think I fell out of the groove! Being an Aquarius, I resist routine. Yet I know if I keep to some kind of schedule, I get a lot accomplished. I always try to live my life so I have no regrets, and to do what I want. Trouble comes when I want to be productive, yet I want to sit around and play silly computer games. This concept seems to be my greatest challenge. There are lots of things I want to do, but it's so hard to get motivated. I admit it... I sit down at my computer to work, and end up playing Solitaire for hours! Or else I snuggle up and read all day. But then, I do eventually get things done. So I guess I can aim for balance between relaxation and productivity, and not feel so guilty about being lazy sometimes.

Deadlines are a good way for me to get things done, but only if someone else is involved. It just doesn't work if I set a deadline for myself - it's got to be a commitment to someone else.

I'm updating my website. It's not noon, yet. I hope to have a creation to post before I go to bed tonight. Wish me luck!

(OK - so I ended up working for my sister because her help called in sick - so I didn't do any beading. )

Here are 2 tiny (size 14°) Violets. They're each about 1/2 inch across. I wanted to make lots of them for another wrist lei, but it takes about half an hour each, and I need at least 50. It may take me a while! :)

I'm on a bracelet kick! Talk about your instant gratification. Plus, I get to play with semi-precious beads. :) This one is Amethyst, clear quartz, and hematite, with sterling saucer beads.

... and I made one for myself, using this prism that's been sitting in a drawer for a long time... Now - where shall I hang it?

I used a basic graphic program to make a "Motivation Mandala". Hope it works! :)

I had a little temper tantrum yesterday -" I'm not gonna make anything! So there!" I have been playing with my beads, sorting them and fondling them. I just don't want to thread a needle.

I made a stretch bracelet today, but when I went to try it on, the elastic snapped. I said several bad words! Must have been one of the crystals that cut right through it.

You know those tins that AOL was mailing discs in? I printed a photo of an Oak tree branch (from my bead trip) onto a sheet of return address labels, then randomly stuck them on the tin... (Got the idea from a book - can't claim it for my own.)

Another wrist lei - this one has no flowers. Instead, it has luscious amethyst colored teardrops, discs, "cheerios" and stars, It's got a very mystical feel. These sure use up a lot of beads!

9/13/03

Here's a quickie pair of earrings to wear with the bracelet.

I think I've figured out why my camera changes colors sort of randomly... I take the pictures at night, with incandescent room light, but under a full-spectrum Ott lite. I have the camera set on Auto, and I think it's confused.

I worked at the bead store today - I helped customers design and assemble these two gorgeous sets.... Used up all my creative juices in helping other people create. :) I think it still counts! It's fun showing others how easy and rewarding it is to make their own jewelry!

OK - I admit it - I spent 2 days in bed - I JUST didn't wanna get up and do anything! :( I started a bead project, but didn't like the way it was going...

I had to get up yesterday and work for my sister - Here's a pic of the dessert buffet table - melon slices and cannoli. I helped make the food - does that count?

I'm feeling lots better now emotionally, but I worked at Oskadusa (the bead store) again today - I'm worn out!

I'm observing myself and hoping to learn just what motivates me to create, without being too hard on myself. I have a few largish projects in mind - I need to get to them before the inspirations ebbs away. Motivation seems to be my theme lately!

9/20/03

Took my mom to the doctor's for some tests yesterday. Everything's OK, just testing! :) I started working on the "Dutch" spiral tube - I think it's gonna be a bangle bracelet... Then I decided to upgrade the OS on my computer. Of course, it took longer than I thought, and things stopped working - I had to reinstall my DSL software, for one. I couldn't get online for a whole day! <grin>

This little box started life as a matchbox. I covered it with labels, lined it, and added a crystal knob and a tiny "beed" edging. What shall I put inside?
